Alimi Adewale Nogerian, b. 1974

Alimi Adewale is a contemporary artist based in Lagos, Nigeria. He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Ilorin University and has expanded his artistic practice through participation in numerous international art workshops. 

Working across painting, sculpture, and installation, Adewale engages traditional themes through a contemporary lens, creating richly textured surfaces and distinctive sculptural finishes. His use of texture is central to his work, evoking specific moods and psychological associations. 

Much of Adewale’s art focuses on representing the lives of African women and exploring issues of global migration. He also investigates the social impact of rapid urbanization, modern development, and the expanding global economy. Blending minimalism and abstraction, his work captures the dynamism and complexity of city living.
